SOAR Benefits Specialist - PAD Team

Fellowship House is currently seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our Broward County Post Arrest Diversion (PAD) program as a SOAR Benefits Specialist. This position is essential to our mission of diverting individuals with mental illness charged with non-violent felonies from the criminal justice system into comprehensive community-based treatment and support services. Participants in our program are primarily referred from jail, and we offer services such as care coordination and peer support to link them to community-based mental health resources.

Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with PAD Admissions Coordinator to identify SOAR applicants.
• Conduct interviews with individuals to gather necessary information for completing SSI/SSDI applications.
• Collect medical records and other documentation required for SSI/SSDI applications.
• Write SOAR Medical Summary Reports for individual applications.
• Accompany individuals to appointments at the Social Security Administration.
• Coordinate visits to medical doctors, psychiatrists, and other specialists to obtain evidence for the application.
• Provide and coordinate case management services with partners.
• Assist the team with administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (REQUIRED)
• Experience providing outreach and successful engagement to a diverse population, including working with clients, developing trust, and conducting interviews in non-traditional settings (preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet frequent deadlines.
• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and database management.
• Strong writing skills and the ability to analyze extensive data and create accurate, concise reports.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and engage with a challenging population in non-traditional work conditions.
• Acquire SOAR certification within first 30 days of employment (REQUIRED).
