Fellowship House is currently seeking Certified Recovery Peer Specialists (CRPS) for available positions within the Multi-Disciplinary Re-Entry Services Team in Miami-Dade County.

The Multi-Disciplinary Re-entry Services Team (MRST), established in collaboration with the Florida Department of Corrections and South Florida Behavioral Health Network (SFBHN), will provide case management and re-entry transition services in both pre and post release settings to 30 individuals with identified post-release mental health needs and/or a co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Services, which aim to reduce recidivism, include but are not limited assessment, case management and care coordination. MRST services will aid the individuals served to transition to independence; enhance quality of life; reduce re-arrests and homelessness; and minimize or prevent recurrent acute episodes of mental illness and subsequent psychiatric hospitalization. Fellowship House abides by and thus incorporates by reference all relevant sections of the Contractor’s Purchase Order with the Department of Corrections for the Mental Health Re-entry Services Pilot Program.

The MRST Team will provide its members with services tailored to individual need which will include case management services, medication management, and other wrap around support services for up to nine months. The MRST shall provide symptom assessment, management, and individual supportive therapy as needed through referral, to help the participant cope with and gain mastery over symptoms and impairments in the context of adult role activities.

These mental health and re-entry services may begin while the individual is still incarcerated, or upon release, and continue through reintegration and establishment of support in his/her local community. The MRST may work with the family of the returning participant, both pre-release and post-release, to assist them in preparation of the participant’s return home. If pre-release services are being offered, the MRST members shall work, in conjunction with the Department contracted medical healthcare provider, the release officer, and the returning inmate/participant, on a release plan and aftercare plan.

The role of a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist is to serve as an advocate and mentor to individuals involved in the MRST program.

In order to qualify for this position, you must have a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist or Certified Recovery Peer Specialist-Provisional credential through the Florida Certification Board (FCB) OR successfully obtain your Certified Recovery Peer Specialist-Provisional credential within 90 days of hire.

The CRPS-P requirements include:

1) High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree. High School Diplomas or General Equivalence Degrees must be eligible for acceptance by colleges or universities holding nationally recognized accreditation through the United States Department of Education and/or Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

2) Lived Experience Endorsements

Lived experience is a foundation of peer-to-peer support services. As such, CRPS applicants must attest to at least one of the lived-experience endorsements at the time of application. Available endorsements are:

· Adult (A): Lived experience as an adult in recovery for a minimum of 2-years from a mental health and/or substance use condition.

· Family (F): Lived experience as a family member or caregiver to another person who is living with a mental health and/or substance use condition.

· Veteran (V): Lived experience as a veteran of any branch of the armed forces who is in recovery for a minimum of 2-years from a mental health and/or substance use condition.

· Youth (Y): Are between the ages of 18 and 29 at the time of application and have lived experience as a person who, between the ages of 14 and 25 experienced a significant life challenge and is now living a wellness and/or recovery-oriented lifestyle for at least two years.

3) Completion of Florida Certification Board CRPS approved 40-hour training program.

4) Passing score on the Certified Recovery Peer Specialist Exam

All applicants must pass a Level 2 Background Screening that is conducted thru the Department of Children and Families. Drug Test is required upon employment.
